If you need a 1000W hit of medium-wave infrared heat spread across a decent amount of space, this is the tool for the job. We designed it to be 690mm long and 14mm wide, which is a bit of a sweet spot. It gives you a steady, even heat across the whole zone so you don’t end up with those annoying localized hotspots. The logic behind the size Since we’re spreading 1000W over nearly 70 centimeters, you aren’t blasting extreme heat into one tiny spot. That’s huge if you’re working with sensitive materials that might scorch. As for the 14mm tube? It’s all about balance. If we went thinner, the lamp would be too fragile and snap. If we went thicker, it would take forever to warm up. This way, you get a fast ramp-up time without worrying that the quartz is going to shatter the second you look at it. Why carbon fiber? We ditched the old-school nichrome wire for carbon fiber. It just works better—lower resistance and better emissivity. We tuck the filament inside a quartz envelope to keep it from oxidizing. The real win here is how the heat behaves. It hits that medium-wave range, which means it actually sinks into plastics and organic materials instead of just bouncing off the surface. A few tips for the install When you’re wiring this in, just make sure your controllers are dialed in for carbon fiber’s specific resistance. These lamps react way faster than metal ones. If your PID loops aren’t tuned tight, you’ll likely overshoot your target temperature. One more thing: at 690mm, these tubes can start to sag. Use centered clips to keep them straight. And please,be careful with the glass. Quartz is tough, but it hates fingerprints and oil. If you touch the glass with greasy hands, those spots will overheat and the lamp will burn out way sooner than it should. Keep it clean, and it’ll treat you right.
